200 Students, Mestins, and a Mountain of Bread Pudding: Anderson Serangoon JC Leaders Cooks Up a Sweet Storm!

A Step Forward for Outdoor Education

Introducing CAMP CHALLENGE’s “The Cooking Challenge” where 200 students rolled up their sleeves and whipped up a three-course meal over open flames. Spoiler alert: it ended in a bread pudding celebration for the ages.

The challenge? More than just cooking, the event was a full-on leadership, collaboration, and creative experience. With the spirit of CAMP CHALLENGE at the heart of the event, students got a taste of real-world problem solving. Creating an appetizer, main course, and dessert all cooked outdoors using limited tools, tons of creativity, and a generous serving of teamwork. With laughter in the air, charcoal smoldering, and culinary chaos in full swing, teams rose to the occasion like true outdoor chefs.

It wasn’t just about sunshine and bonding. Instead, baking the ultimate comfort dessert… bread pudding, cooked the old-school way took centre stage under the open sky, fueled by fire and good vibes.

Yes, you read that right 200 participants, one massive outdoor kitchen, and a single shared goal: to turn humble ingredients into a mouthwatering masterpiece.

Under the guidance of the instructors and Year 2 students and the rhythmic beat of laughter, chatter, and portable speakers, students got their hands doughy, slicing, soaking, and stirring up pans of custard-coated bread that would soon become golden, cinnamon-kissed magic. Forget MasterChef. This was NatureChef: JC Edition.

The aromas wafting through the outdoor area were absolutely unreal. By sunset, the bread pudding feast had become a sweet symbol of teamwork, excellence, and the kind of outdoor fun you don’t get in a classroom. Topped with a scoop of whipped cream (or for some, more bread pudding), it was the dessert that united a college, and it tasted like victory.

Anderson Serangoon JC’s Ultimate Outdoor Cooking Challenge wasn’t just a success. It was legendary.

Final stats:

Who won? Everyone who got a bite.
