Singapore, 2025 – In a pivotal move to raise the quality, safety, and impact of outdoor learning experiences, Singapore has launched its Singapore Standard 710:2024, Code of practice for Outdoor Adventure Education (OAE) activities – a milestone that marks the beginning of a more unified, professional, and purpose-driven outdoor education sector.
CAMP CHALLENGE is proud to be part of the working group that contributed to the development of the standards. As a longstanding advocate for youth development and experiential learning, CAMP CHALLENGE believes these standards represent a much-needed benchmark for excellence, accountability, and growth in the field.
A Step Forward for Outdoor Education
Outdoor education in Singapore has evolved significantly over the past two decades—from basic team-building camps to deeply intentional programmes focused on resilience, environmental stewardship, and character development. The introduction of the standards aims to formalise this progression by setting out clear guidelines and quality assurance measures in the design, delivery, and evaluation of outdoor learning.
CAMP CHALLENGE’s Commitment to Elevation
Having operated for over two decades, CAMP CHALLENGE has consistently pushed for higher standards and deeper educational impact in its outdoor programmes. From expeditions to school camps, its team has long prioritised structured reflection, challenge-by-choice principles, and intentional learning design.
Being involved in the drafting of the standards has reaffirmed CAMP CHALLENGE’s belief in the power of collaboration across the industry. “We are not just service providers—we are educators,”. These standards give recognition to the important developmental work that happens in the great outdoors. We’re excited to contribute to a stronger and more respected outdoor education landscape in Singapore.”
Together, we can ensure that every outdoor learning experience is not only memorable—but meaningful.
